This term, Dr Crowther has shared our work on the English curriculum in EYFS and KS1 with literacy specialists across the West of England through the English Hubs network. This recognition highlights the sector-leading practice taking place in our classrooms and the dedication of the talented team who have shaped it.

Our approach to developing strong foundational writing skills has been carefully crafted by the English, Reception and Year 1 teams. Their collaborative work—rooted in high expectations, deep subject knowledge and a passion for early literacy—has helped ensure that every child begins their writing journey with confidence, creativity and a clear sense of purpose.
We are proud that our curriculum and classroom practice have been identified as an example of excellence, but even more proud of the children whose enthusiasm and progress bring this work to life every day. Our team has benefited enormously from learning alongside many inspiring schools, and this opportunity to contribute back to the wider sector feels particularly meaningful.

Sharing what we do—and continuing to learn from others—strengthens our practice and helps all children across the region thrive as early writers
