Dear families,
The last day of the year is always one of mixed feelings - we are so proud of all our children have achieved, sad to say goodbye to colleagues who are leaving and excited to start thinking about the year ahead.
The outstanding team at Cobham have achieved some incredible things this year, from national test results that are well above the national average to transforming play and lunch times. They have worked tirelessly, with some pretty challenging circumstances thrown their way, and I know we are all so grateful for everything they have given our children. I am extremely excited by the teams we have in place for 2025/26 and their commitment to building on the successes of this year.
Thank you to all our families for everything you bring to the Cobham community. It is a privilege to work with families who are so passionate about our children's education. Our PTA have led some amazing fundraising this year, which has already made an incredible difference to our resources at a much-needed time - huge thanks to everyone who has given up time, energy and expertise for us.
Our governing board has gone from strength to strength, with new members bringing tremendous expertise. I am thankful for their support, challenge and time and am looking forward to setting some more audacious goals with them for the future.
We have many exciting plans for next year: Forest School for every class, a revamped range of enrichment and trips, a tailored Personal Development Curriculum and a clearer and more consistent behaviour policy - and many things in between! I will, of course, share more details in due course.
Some key dates to be aware of:
Friday 25th July - Lunch bookings open for next term (please see attached for the Term 1 Menu)
Monday 25th August - deadline for ordering lunches for week 1
Monday 1st September - first day of school!
Thursday 4th September - Meet the Teacher, 2.30pm
Special mention must of course be made of the colleagues who are moving on this year. They have all given a tremendous amount to Cobham and we are grateful for the years, energy and love they have dedicated to our children. We wish them all the best for their next adventures, whether that be retirement, new schools or new careers.
My most important thank you is to the children. Their progress this year has been admirable and they have taught us as much as we have been able to teach them. Class 6 have shown tremendous resilience, strength and kindness over the years and we know they are all completely ready for their secondary school adventures. I hope all our children have the most wonderful breaks. We are here over the holidays if there is anything you need and we are excited to see you again in September.
On a personal level, I would like to thank you for the support and feedback this year, as well as for your very thoughtful and kind gifts over the last few days. I have many reflections and a great deal of learning from my first year as headteacher, and I promise to do my very best to continue to improve just as much as I ask the children to do each day.
Best wishes and much love,
Dr Crowther
