Dear Families!

Welcome back to a new school year! A very special welcome to our new families in Year R and a handful across the school who have also joined us. We very much look forward to getting to know all our new children who are joining us in the coming weeks. A huge welcome to Mrs Lawford who has joined the phenomenal Cobham team. We are very lucky to have recruited her.

A huge thank you for my lovely cards and gifts at the end of last year! Summer was a great time to rest and recuperate before the challenges of a new year! We have much planned for the year and we have some new areas of school improvement to work upon! Our parents that completed the Parent Voice Survey right at the end of the school year, your comments have given us much to reflect upon, in relation to our curriculum and all that we teach at Cobham. The children love the learning at Cobham and we hope, with the changes planned, that we can truly design a bespoke learning experience for our children, that they truly emulate our school motto of Caring, Proud and Successful by the time they leave us at the end of Year 6.

We want the children to

CARE

about each other
about themselves
about their families
about their environment
about the world beyond Cobham

BE PROUD

of who they are
of where they come from
of each other
of their school
of their achievements, their qualities and traits

BE SUCCESSFUL

in Reading, Writing and Maths
and confident in their own abilities
and ready for their next stage of learning
by demonstrating perseverance and resilience
as a team

Not much to aspire to then! But this is what we do! This is what we aim for!

As you can see, there is much happening, in this, the first term! We will of course send you more details about each event, as we head through Term 1! Wherever possible our policy remains that we will not charge for extra curricular activities and workshops that take place during the school day. However, with our budget stretched beyond its limits to cover our costs this year, any donations you can make, however big or small, as the term progresses and your child enjoys and learns from these extra activities would be extremely helpful and very much appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing the children on Monday looking smart in their uniform. Please ensure that it is the correct school uniform – we seemed to have had an array of uniform choices towards the end of term. Long hair on both boys and girls must be tied up too!

Also can I please remind you that all email communication must be sent to the school office office@cobham.kent.sch.uk or myself headteacher@cobham.kent.sch.uk, unless a team member has emailed you themselves and has asked for a reply. The team were often inundated last year and cannot respond or have time to access their school emails during the school day. Mrs Styles and myself will field most and send them on to the relevant team members if required.

Here’s to a great first term!
Kindest regards,
Jacqui Saunders
